Holiday 2018 Cider Hunting Trip


Austin Eastciders Collaboratory Tap Room

Who does not like Texas for holiday?! I went to Texas for Christmas and New Year, and I love it! During my trip, I also got a chance to go to one of the cidery that I've been wanting to go to, The Austin Eastciders. I'll share the detail on my visit with you here.



*Who is Austin Eastciders?*

Committing to making an original American Cider, Austin Eastciders produces a less sweet cider with white wine's yeast in Austin Texas. The result is a sparkling beery-winey-cider drink with wider range of flavor. Check out their interview video with Fox news in 2018!




*The Tap Room*

You may find a more complete collection of their cider at the Tap Room, at 979 Springdale Rd, Ste. 130 ATX 78702. It is a little bar that only serve Austin Eastciders' ciders. In this place you can enjoy live music, games, and cider. Around the building there were also a couple of food trucks where you can get food as well.



*Cider Tasting *

This is the list of ciders that I tasted during my visit to the tap room.

Blood Orange

Rating : ( 3.7 / 5.0 )

  • Orange in color. One of the best blood orange cider I've tasted! It tasted very fresh, but not too sweet. I feel like I was drinking the orange zest Airborne with a light apple cider tartness. There is a medium sparkling carbonation similar to what I tasted in the other flavor. Check out my complete comments & review here.

Pineapple

  • I love their pineapple cider the most! Pineapple just goes really well with apple. It is golden in color with medium sparkling carbonation. It has a medium sweetness characteristics. Somehow I can taste the palm sugar and brown sugar most of Austin Eastciders' flavors, especially this one. Very light and refreshing. Tastes like pineapple-guava. :)

Hopped

Rating : ( 3.6 / 5.0 )

  • Austin Eastciders make the best hop cider! Hop has a very fruity-sweet flavor, but also bitterness in beers. Austin Eastciders has successfully produce a fruity-sweet hop-cider-beer drink that does not has the bitter characteristic in it. Excellent! Very fruity and fresh, but also sweet and tart.

Original Dry Cider

Rating : ( 3.5 / 5.0 )

  • Semi dry apple cider with light tartness. Sparking medium carbonation with golden-brownish color.

Spiced Cider

Rating : ( 3.4 / 5.0 )

  • Austin Eastciders produces spiced cider for the holiday season. It has the light flavor of apple cider, cinnamon, and spices, with medium sparkling carbonation. It is sweet and a little bit tart. Good, but spiced cider can be too sweet when consumed at large amount.

Texas Brut Super Dry Cider

Rating : ( 3.4 / 5.0 )

  • Very light and dry, tastes almost like cider-champagne especially with the sparkling carbonation.

Bourbon Barrel Aged Cider

Rating : ( 3.3 / 5.0 )

  • A light semi-sweet cider with bourbon flavor. The bitter characteristic of bourbon is carried into the drink. You may like it if you are a fans of bourbon. In fact, this is my boyfriend's favorite out of all the other flavors in the tasting menu.

Lemon Ginger

Rating : ( 3.6 / 5.0 )

  • This one has 6.5% alcohol content unlike the other flavors with 5% alcohol. It comes with a semi-tart apple decorated with zesty lemon and a hint of ginger flavor. Very refreshing. I love the fruity flavor of the drink.
